“Energy vampires” or “voltage vampires” can  increase your residents’ utility bills without them understanding why. Coffee makers, televisions, and clock radios are just a few appliances that many assume are not using up electricity when they are not in use. Unfortunately, the bulk of these appliances actually have a standby mode, meaning that as long as they are plugged in, they will continue to use electricity.

Check out the helpful video above from howdini.com to learn what appliances might be contributing to your residents’ higher electric bills and how they can decrease their usage. Consider sharing this information on resident portals or community newsletters to promote conservation and prevent utility bill confusion.
